In the past few years, we’ve started dabbling with various Conures. I like to raise a couple babies of whatever species it is before purchasing any breeders of that type. So, the Conures I have really liked are the Green Cheek Conures. They have a multitude of mutations (color changes, not hybrids), and they are not overly loud. They are sweet and friendly, and stay that way with a minimum of work on the owner’s part. Of course, you do need to take the baby out to play and get exercise daily, as with any other parrot. Some of the mutations seem to pick up speech quite easily also!
Listed below are some of the babies we’ve recently raised at the aviary. I will eventually add more information on each mutation, later this summer.
I do get baby Sun Conures from a friend breeder, but I won’t breed them myself (they are too loud!).
Cages should be a minimum of 16x22x26 high, with a maximum of 1/2 inch bar spacing.
