Dusky Conures are known by several other names, such as Dusky Headed Parakeets, and Wendell’s Conures, after the man who first discovered them. They come from the wooded areas in the western Amazon basin in South America.
However you call them, they are a hidden treasure in the Conure world. These birds are so friendly, sweet, playful, calm, and they are much quieter than their other Conure cousins!!! In my opinion the best part is that they stay that way, not going through the unpredictable nippiness that most Green Cheeks and many of the other Conure species go through. They grow to be 11″, and have a comical white eye patch around each eye.
These two are my first that I’m raising, on the advice of a good breeder friend of mine. I’d like to keep in contact with the new owners over the upcoming years to verify that these birds are all that I’ve been told they are!
