This Harlequin is a DNA male baby – one year old. I had him first listed as a Catalina as the owner told me, but once looking at the bird closely, I think he looks much more like a Harlequin -the beak and chest color, and the shape of the head follow the Harlequin. I did not hatch this baby, he is being re-homed. A Harlequin is a hybrid of a Blue & Gold and a Greenwing macaw.
He is very sweet, allows me to pick him up whenever, says Step up and Hello so far. (He may say more, we’ll know more in a few weeks!) He has allowed me to kiss him on the top of his beak randomly also. Added – He calls himself “Sam” and says, “Hi Sam!”
He had a bird buddy in the cage with him who played with this guy’s tail, so he’s got only two feathers right now.
